There is nothing more important than feeling comfortable that your pets are being well taken care of and loved while you are away. I have been a customer of Urban Animal for over 5 years and a huge fan that whole time. It is clear that everyone there loves my cats as much as I do. They are responsible, trustworthy and proactive. For over 20 years, Urban Animal has cared for my furry friends. Do you consider your cat and dog family? I do! And, since I travel regularly for work, I need a safe, loving and dependable service to provide for my cats. Urban Animal is responsibe and considerate; they support me, Bud and Sophie.I just don’t worry and I know that if there is a concern, I am told immediately. Do you love your animals? Urban Animal is the best there is. Carol, Paula and the other sitters we have worked with are not only professionals, but some of the most caring individuals I have met. Their love of animals comes through. My dog is quite particular and I always used to feed anxious leaving her. My husband and I have joked these last several years that she likes her petsitter better than us! :)A good problem to have. The urban team is responsive, detail oriented, caring and flexible. My husband and I have had some amazing travel complications (including flying back from Tokyo and into Hurricane Sandy) and even when our petsitter, Paula, knew that staying with Zoe might mean she may no be able to get home as public transportation was shutting down, she was quick to offer to stay with our dog no matter what. I don’t know what we would do without them!

I couldn’t be more impressed with any dog walking service. As a result of shoulder surgery that prevented me from walking Eamon, my adult male Kuvasz, I needed extraordinary help for a period of about seven weeks: four walks per day (ranging from about 7am to 9pm), seven days per week. James accepted the assignment and he and his colleague, Diane, never let me down.

They divided the walks and never missed an appointment. On the very rare occasions when they couldn’t cover for each other, James arranged an alternate walker with plenty of advance notice. 

In addition to this exceptional reliability, they were wonderful with Eamon. He never evidenced reluctance to leave with them and always returned looking exceptionally happy. He’d quickly made good friends!

I’d expected that caring for Eamon would be the greatest obstacle to a successful recovery. As things turned out, however, Urban Animal made the experience far easier to bear. They are wonderful people.

My rescue Chow mix, who is very nervous around new people due to an abusive past, fell in love with James faster than she had with any other dog-walker, friend, or relative. James has a way with animals that is very rare. Maybe it’s his background in zoo-keeping, or in animal rehabilitation, but I could not feel more comfortable trusting someone with my dog than I am with him. In the past, I was worried about going on vacation and leaving my dog in the care of other dog-sitters. Now I don’t even need to think about it. 
In a city with so much competition in dog-walking and pet-sitting, James stands out as top notch. You’ll notice this after seeing him interact with your pet for the very first time. What a relief to have found someone so caring, diligent, and reliable!

James is an absolutely wonderful animal caretaker. He has cared for my cats and rabbits on several occasions and always goes above and beyond to make sure my fur kids are happy when I’m away. One of my older cats requires daily medication and James did a great job making sure he received everything right on schedule and was quick to let me know if his appetite or behavior were off. James is compassionate, competent with a variety of species, and follows written and verbal instructions perfectly. He is so gentle and patient with my fur kids, they all love him. I recommend James highly to anyone looking for a dependable caretaker to watch their animals while they are away. James is simply the best!

James took as good (or better) care of my pet than I do. As a somewhat nervous cat owner, I am very picky when it comes to sitters and James surpassed my highest expectations. At our initial meeting, he asked detailed and thoughtful questions and was extremely well organized. While I was gone, he sent regular updates, with photos. And he had a well developed plan for befriending my shy cat. Within 2 days, he got her to come out and play. I really have nothing but praise for James’ professionalism and concern for my cat’s well being.

Very professional outfit. Diane has cat sat several times for Felix, my two year old asthmatic cat. She’s great, responsible. Had the good sense to reach out to me when, over the summer, the conditions merited that the ac go on.  Because he is asthmatic, she has to administer a nebulizer once or twice a day (through a gizmo called an aerokat). Felix is pretty well behaved but, still, it is a little intimidating for most folks. Very happy that I found you guys.

Love this company and their caretakers, they’re loving, smart, gentle and trustworthy. Best Chelsea pet care out there (they cover the West Village too where I used to live). I’ve been a client for 2 decades- since 2 owners ago! A loyal client who never got around to thanking them online before!

They’re great about last minute visits and overnight sit requests, really know my cats, are reliable and prices are better than other companies- an acquaintance told me a story about using another service, they charged more for impersonal care and didn’t stay the full half hour like he asked and paid for. Pet co owner couldn’t be reached to ask why not and too many excuses were made. Stick with good, experienced people who love your pet, build a relationship- it’s worth it!
